Westerncraft, Part 1

My proposal is a huge Minecraft makeover, called westerncraft. Where random mines are generated, huge towns are generated, and a weapon system that works well. A few new NPC’s will be the biggest problem. And I introduce a few guns. Such as the favorites, 44, 38, and a double barreled shotgun. Lets start with the weapon system.

Primary, secondary, and third party tools. All that use respective keys that can be accessed more easily than the number keys we’re using today. Such as Z, X , and C. a primary would be a two handed weapon, such as a rifle, or Indian bow. A secondary would be a one handed weapon. Like a revolver or knife. The third party weapon would be something like dynamite. Or a pick or shovel. And the equipping system would be so that you can unequip these three items by pressing there respective keys to put them away. Then you could use the number keys to access block and swords and stuff. Equipping weapons and such will be as easy as equipping armor. There will be four slots. One for a two handed weapon, one for a one handed weapon, and one for a third party weapon. The last slot belongs to a new armor slot. A belt. leather, slotted leather, double holster, and a slotted double holstered belt. you make these by using a clothiers workbench. And making a circle of leather using 8 leather. The next belt tier is slotted. That means you can use a knife with this equipped. Its created with copper. still using leather as a base. Now you replace the north and south slots with copper and you have a slotted belt. do the same thing up to gold to make better belts. Gold being the best tier. Diamond you can make armor with, but is now not as good as steel. Now lets explore the possibilities that randomly generated abandoned mines can provide.

A randomly generated mine is marked by red bricks making a circle. If you can find a town, the town hall will have a sign bearing the coordinates to the nearest mine. The good thing about this mine is that it brings a “dungeon” aspect to the game. Having a very good chance of having a double barreled shotgun at the end. And the end would also have a good pocket of one matireal. Such as a gold mine would bear a pocket of gold at the end. And with a bunch of different rooms and pathways, its easy to get lost underground. And a few rooms may have a chest. In dungeon fashion. The chances will be as following:

Double shotgun : 30%

.44 revolvers : 15%

.38 cowboy action rifle: 10%

Dynimite : 50%

Indian relic : 20%

Leather armor : 30%

Gold nuget/ingot : 50%

Silver nugget : 100%

Copper nugget 100%

ammo : 40%

ammo : 40%

Now as you saw, I used silver copper and steel. Steel should be made by combining iron and copper ingots in a crafting table. 5 iron ingots and 4 copper ingots. Copper in the lower right or left slots making a square. Iron surrounding it. That would produse 4 steel ingots. That’s what you need for the hardest pick to make. As well as making a gun. The other things should apear at the same levels as the other ores. Copper with coal and silver with gold. The things u need to mine them are the same. The only difference is that these respective picks are more durable than there normal counterparts. Copper is more durable than stone, but takes more resources to make. Caves will still appear as normal. gold nuggets are money. Can be traded for items, like resources and weapons. A clothier will provide armor, belts, jackets, boots, and hats. Hats and boots won’t provide armor but look good and help when encountering and Indian. They might make peace if you trade with them enough.

Now crops, that’s right, if you find a town and find a farmer he’ll trade you dried corn and seeds. Planting dried corn will act the same as planting seeds but wields a different crop. It will also look different. Corn doesn’t heal. But if cooked it heals the same as bread. But is only stackable to 8.

Terrain. The terrain should be a humungas desert, wielding small forest, jungle, or snow bioms. which means leather and food is more scarce. if there could be some good sized mountains along with large flat plains, that would make the scene. i have some recipes started on my computer(the images). unforcuantly i dont have the programs to mod. or to even make a texture pack, as of now. when i get a new computer, ill make the textures and and skins for the townspeople. as well as some of the mechanics for the abandoned mine. next lets handle the gun mechanics.

first the easiest, the .44’s. the only thing really big is that when you crouch you can “Fan” fire. that means rapid fire. but only when you crouch. and its a 6 shooter(my dream gun). reloading should have a cool animation. and ammo is only stackable to 30. there is only three new type’s of ammo. revolver round, rifle round, and the shotty round! all made with a leather on the bottom, gunpowder in the middle, and a nugget at the top(different nuggets provide different bullets). and each gun is uniuqe, no super OP guns. the most powerfull is the shotty, but youll have to get close. the second best gun is the handgun but it only has 6 shots. the least powreful is the rifle. but it has a magizine of 14 bullets and it takes awhile to reload. pressing R will reload, even when there are still rounds in the gun. shotty should be the easiest to reload, loading only two shells.

the rest of the paper is a work in progress. i need some modders and other suport. if anyone sees this and whants to help, start folowing, and send me a message, or reply to this one

and remember,if i already have 4-5 reskinners working on all the new skins, ill have a job for you on swatcraft. that post is comming out within a week. its basicly the same deal, new npc’s and more blocks, and a scoring system(not as drastic as you think).

untill then,

minecraft, terraria, and other fun games

minecraft is a realllllllly fun game, for an architect game. it may be 3D, but as of now has no reason to explore youre world. terraria on the other hand does. it has bosses and such already in the game. no mods needed. but minecraft has a amazing aspect that is almost imposible to beat. it is 3D, and there is so much you can do. now HALO reach has a good idea with the whole impassible walls and such. and you can place weopons around and decorate that way. but minecraft isn’t being created just for building. because as of 1.7 notch will add adventure mode!!!!!!! and reward you for exploring your world. terraria is a fun game if youre into: adventure, action, building, rpg, online multiplayer, and straight up adictive-ness. and the fact that youre adventure is never done, because you can carry your inventory over to a new world. if this helps then ive done my job.

Hi! E3 is over, and we’re flying back to Sweden in a few hours. I have loads of information and news to share, so here’s a rambling information dump:

* Minecraft fans are amazing. I spent a fair bit of time at E3 signing t-shirts and cardboard heads, trying to speak with as many fans as possible,…

Fixing bugs, enabling nether.

notch:

1.6 officially has a release date of “not soon”. The main features will be the maps, bug fixes, and now a functioning Nether in multiplayer.
